Situated in Lincolnshire just 10 minutes from the A1, we will meet at half hour before sunrise ( time to be notified) so we can be taken to the Buzzard hide. This is a 5 minute walk across flat fields, that may be wet or muddy. We will be spending the day in a superb and insulated hide, which even comes with tea and coffee making facilities. There is ample room to stretch and stand up. The hide boast reflective glass so its very light and airy. We will have the opportunity here to photograph at close quarters the Buzzard to one side of the hide and Woodland Birds to the other side. There is a good possibility we may also see Red Kite, Green Woodpecker and as a bonus the Sparrowhawk also occasionally visits. I will help you to get set up - if you require assistance, recommend settings and composition - in order for you to come away with great photographs from your one2one day in this hide.
In terms of equipment you require for the Buzzard I would recommend the longest lens you have ( 300mm-500mm is ideal). For the Green Woodpecker either a 300mm or a 70-200mm is ideal. You will need a TRIPOD as there is no shelf for a bean-bag. If you really want to make the best of the day and have two camera/trip[od set ups then bring them as it will save swapping and changing positions.
Clothing needs to be in layers as it can get cold in the hides over the winter months. I would recommend good walking boots or wellies. It could be muddy and wet. Waterproof clothing to get to the hide would also be useful as its uncomfortable to sit all day in wet clothing if its raining during the walk to the hide.
In terms of fitness level required - this is probably a level 1/5 - there are 3 steps down in to the sunken level hide…
